Overall, the three versions of the 15-inch MacBook Pro produced fairly similar overall performance, as the 2.83GHz unit outpaced the 2.53GHz unit by just 9.7 percent. In Macworld’s Quake 4 test, however, the high-end version’s frame rate was more than twice that of the low-end version, and more than 10 percent better than the midlevel 2.66GHz version’s. Similarly in Macworld’s Call of Duty 4 test, the high-end unit more than doubled the low-end unit’s frame rate, but this time matched the midlevel unit’s frame rate–even though the high-end 15-incher has twice as much video RAM as the the midlevel version.
Apple(A1175 Battery) includes a 10/100 USB-to-ethernet adapter in the box now, which is generous, but the fact remains that if you’re trying to download a file over ethernet while backing up to a USB hard drive, you will tax that single USB port to the limit. (You’ll also need to invest in a serious USB hub.) What’s worse, the $99 MacBook Air SuperDrive must be attached to the MacBook Air directly and doesn’t offer any passthrough ports of its own, making it impossible to boot from a DVD and then restore from a Time Machine backup stored on an external hard drive. Well, impossible’s too strong a word: I was able to pull off the trick by using Apple’s $900 LED Cinema Display, which will also power the SuperDrive, as the world’s most expensive USB hub.
A slot-loading DVD burner highlights the Toshiba(PA3465U-1BRS) Satellite U505’s standard assortment of ports. You get three USB 2.0 ports, one of which doubles as an eSATA port. FireWire is missing, but we were pleased to find HDMI next to the standard-issue VGA port to complete your video-output options. Despite its trim dimensions, the U505 finds room for an ExpressCard/54 slot. Draft N Wi-Fi is included, but corporate users on Gigabit Ethernet networks will be disappointed with the 10/100 Ethernet connection.
The 15.6-inch screen features a cinematic 16:9 aspect ratio and a 1,366×768-pixel native resolution. The extra-wide aspect ratio allows movies to fill the screen, and it also provides a large desktop for productivity use. You can view two Word docs side by side without needing to scroll horizontally to see the entire width of each doc. The glossy coating smoothes edges and creates vivid, colorful images during movie playback. Audio by way of the Altec Lansing speakers was very good. We found them to emit a bit louder and much clear sound than the Sony(VGP-BPS2 battery) Vaio NW270’s speakers, which were pretty good in their own right.
The MK90 is what every good little girl will want from Santa (and what every big girl secretly wants) this Christmas. Available in pink or blue with a dreamy fairytale pattern, the cover is adorned with Disney themes including Cinderella and Snow White, and a Mickey Mouse shaped camera.

The keyboard is an absolute joy to type on; if you’re a touch typist, you’ll love it. It feels rock solid and the keys are tactile. However, the keys do have plenty of resistance, so if you type lightly then you might not hit some letters hard enough and will end up with typos. In the middle of the keyboard is a TrackPoint device (otherwise known as an eraser head), which is convenient to use when the T400s is in your lap.
So electricity charging is even more convenient than filling up with petrol today. The preconditions are easy technical handling (”Plug & Charge”), the automatic exchange of information between the vehicle and the charging station during the charging process and a customer-friendly and safe billing system – as simple as for a mobile phone. In the framework of the “e-mobility Berlin” project customers conclude a contract for automotive electricity with RWE.
This notebook delivers in pretty-much all areas. It includes a reliable WiFi chip, a good webcam, HDMI output (a really nice bonus for those who ever hook up their notebook to their TV or higher-end monitor), a 6-cell laptop battery which is capable of delivering between 3 - 3.5 hours of usage depending on workload. Considering this notebook is currently selling for $600 at multiple e-tailers, I’d have to say that it’s quite a deal.
